Bring in leaders who'll continue local control

Morro Bay

Morro Bay residents, didn’t you find it odd that three of the candidates had their literature delivered to your door as a set? What is this group’s agenda? The key question to ask yourself is, “Do you want Morro Bay to remain a city and continue local control of public safety and community services?” I submit that these candidates do not. In fact, their policies would devolve Morro Bay to the status of Los Osos.

Environmental lobbying has succeeded in diminishing revenue from the power plant and the fishing industry to a trickle. The last leg of Morro Bay’s economic engine is tourism. The “Embarcadero interest vs. the rest of the city” tactic is a direct attack on tourism. (Tourists don’t come to Morro Bay to visit our neighborhoods.)

A city cannot survive solely by recycling the internal revenue of its residents. Expecting government grants to be the answer is dreaming. Host tourists and let them help pay for our services.

Carla Borchard and Joan Solu are two candidates who possess the business experience to best lead growth of Morro Bay’s economic engine. Through this growth will come the funds to fix our infrastructure and continue local control.
