Camillia,
Just wanted to share a few ideas to consider as New Times is such valuable credible anchor for our community. As new times can shift it's content to 'staying connected in an isolated world':
* Events: Submit your online event. With the links to register, New Times evens is super valuable single point for all local online events. (also, add links to tutorials on how to how to get setup with Zoom, use Skype, Google Hangouts, etc...)
* Movies: What's worth watching on the streaming services?
* Opportunities to help those in need: Answer the call to help where you can. Even if it's just a phone call to check in. Let's be sure those who are offline are not neglected.
* Shine a light on people and businesses making a difference: Mick Malotte (https://whiteheronsangha.org) is offering free weekly mindfulness talks and mediation through Zoom. Spark Yoga (https://www.smileatspark.com) is offering online yoga classes with local instructors.
I feel more than ever, a publication like new times is needed to maintain a sense of community while we are forced into isolation. Right now, I'm finding it super helpful to tune in to those with positive encouraging words and tune out those with negative (and speculative) ones.
I'd love to hear stories from those who've overcome major adversities in their life which can help us realize how small our own hardships really are.
I see this as opportunity to become stronger. They say that which doesn't kill us... This is one of those times.
Thank you for all you do...
and most importantly - thank you for working,
Brian
Thank you New Times for including this event in your Friday email blast!
