Brandon Boreneo - Franchisee of Pizza Fusion, organic pizza, in SLO

NEW TIMES: What do you feel is the importance of establishing a Pizza Fusion in SLO?

BORENE: My wife Susan and I felt it was important to offer organic eating in an outlet such as ours for the healthy and organic eaters in the community, as well as an educational opportunity for those who perhaps don’t eat as healthily. We want to be examples in the community, and an inspiration for other businesses to be modeled after.

NEW TIMES: How have you been received thus far in SLO?

BORENE: The reception has been incredible, with people stopping by to check us out everyday during construction. We can’t wait to open and give people what they’ve been waiting for, and we’re proud to be the one’s offering it.

NEW TIMES: Is your website organic too?

BORENE: In a way, as we’ve replaced conventional power with wind-power. Our website, corporate headquarters, and all of our restaurants run off of wind-power.

NEW TIMES: Is there any special way you plan to advertise?

BORENE: We plan to advertise in the non-conventional sense, simply by getting involved in the community. We plan to sponsor events, get involved in classrooms at schools, and be seen giving back to the community all around town.

NEW TIMES: How do you feel that the world can be saved ‘one pizza at a time’?

BORENE: Organic is a ‘green’ concept, and people can come to our restaurant knowing that money spent on organic pizza goes right back to organic farmers. By not using chemicals, organics help both the consumer and the earth, and our environmentally safe business practices help to have little to no impact on the earth.
