Re: “Atascadero will charge its residents a fee for contaminating the recycling bin

Isn't Waste Management a for profit company? .... and now they have to power to impose fines?.... and no one can opt out? Something needs to change.

Re: “An agenda of fear and hatred

Mr. Holt....I think that you'll have to admit that wearing a MAGA hat and kneeling during the National Anthem are both expressions of free speech. Both are rights. Both should be respected. I doubt that Mr Fonzi could ever see the equivalency, but to see free speech as unpatriotic when in disagreement is a very familiar false narrative from the Right.

Re: “Enough is enough!

I knew a woman once who was driving drunk and ran into a tree. In the hospital she seriously talked about cutting down the tree. It was the trees' fault.....These fires are increasing not just in California. Don't you remember British Columbia being ablaze just months ago? A million and a half acres this year......
Forty years ago Dr James Hanson (NASA's Goddard Institute) testified before congress that climate change will be our future unless we move to clean energy. That we can expect increased droughts and fires. Forty years ago the US Forest Service's budget for fire suppression was 17% of its budget. It is now over 60% and rising. This is not a coincidence. If you want to blame, please blame the cause, Global Warming. Its caused by us, and there are solutions. Cutting down forests are part of the problem not the solution.

Re: “County measure to ban fracking and oil drilling fails

The oil companies won the right to expand and frack. The people of San Luis Obispo have given them permission to put our water in jeopardy and expand the pollution of our ground water. Who won this contest? I think we all loss.

Re: “Measure G campaigns clash as opposition spends millions

Mr Reason, fishermen have overfished and have caused the collapse of fisheries in the past. Where are the abalone fishermen that helped build Morro Bay? Where are the Pismo Clams today?..... We now have marine sanctuaries in place that help sustain both fish and fishermen. Nobody took away their fishing poles, but fishermen are not allowed to fish in these sanctuaries. Measure G says that you can continue pumping oil from your existing wells until your field runs dry. You just can't use acid injection and other enhance techniques and you cannot expand. You know that to be true.....Oil production uses large amounts of water and pollutes. We want our water to be unpolluted and used good of the people of the county, and for endeavors really do support our economy such as agriculture and tourism.

Re: “Measure G campaigns clash as opposition spends millions

Mr Reason.... Can I call you Voice? Dear Voice, does a having a fishing license gives you the right to fish with dynamite because you would catch fish faster? I'm sure its been done, but less greedy, smarter minds made it illegal. Because of the relatively new technology of fracking and enhanced extraction, we the people of San Luis Obispo County are saying no you do not have the right to explode (fracture rock) in order to extract oil faster. I would hope reason would yes on G, and be part of a more responsible future.

Re: “Tricky politics

Mr Shredder, I agree with you. Spin, hypocrisy, and outright lying have become the new norm. Its wearisome. I have received those false slate fliers from No on G. This feels real close to home. The oil companies wouldn't need such tactics if their claims were honest. I'm voting yes on G because our water should be protected.
