She birthed you, may have raised you, and, if you were lucky, you had the kind who would feed you.
Mothers. If you have a mother, you know you either have the kind who can cook or the kind who can’t.
If you had the latter as a kid, you probably spent a lot of time working the cafeteria black market to get your hands on something palatable.
If you had the former as a kid, well, forget you and your gourmet pudding cup, man!
If you celebrated Mother’s Day as a kid, you probably repaid her for all those years of culinary servitude with a 3:30 a.m. burnt pancake breakfast and a cold coffee.
If your mother is the saintly type, she probably acted like this breakfast would normally be served at the Taj Mahal—but secretly, inside, she was probably wishing humans could eat their young.
Now that you’re a grown-up, you can at least afford to have someone make her an underwhelming latte and pancakes.
But why be unoriginal? Your mother probably encouraged you to march to the beat of your own drummer as a kid, so why not repay her with a unique and well-planned Mother’s Day experience?
Colby Jack Café will be serving a Mother’s Day Brunch on May 12 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. The brunch is perfect for that mom who likes a quiet and filling meal. The brunch will include several entrée options, salads, desserts, as well as bottomless mimosas or Champagne, coffee, juice, milk, iced tea, and sodas.
A lunch ticket is $35 for adults, and a kid’s ticket is $13. Kids ages 7 and younger eat for free.
The Gardens Restaurant and Sycamore Springs Resort is also holding a brunch on May 12 from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. with a special, three-course meal, including bottomless mimosas, for $35 per person. There’s also a kids’ menu for $15. Reservations are recommended.
Eberle Winery will also be playing host to the moms who like the vino (and the kids who need it on Mother’s Day) on May 12, with a brunch from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. There will be wine and multiple food stations featuring a variety of choices, including eggs and omelets, tri-tip, seafood, sides and salads, and desserts. Brunch is $40 for adults, $15 for children, and free for children younger than 5.
Last but not least, if you have a rather, um, colorful mother, mother-in-law, mother figure, dad who’s more like a mom, sister who’s a mom, mother of your grandmother, or anyone else you want to celebrate on this glorious occasion, then head over to the Madonna Inn Mother’s Day Champagne Brunch.
Madonna Inn will have an omelet bar, jumbo shrimp, crab legs, prime rib, whole ham, roasted turkey, and more. Adults eat for $40, and children 3 to 12 dine for $22.
