Arroyo Grande High School sex assault investigation continues

The Arroyo Grande Police Department continues its investigation into reports of a teacher sexually assaulting a student at Arroyo Grande High School.

Arroyo Grande Police Cmdr. Beau Pryor said the investigation into the matter was ongoing, and added that the department was meeting with a representative from the SLO County District Attorney’s office to discuss the case.

“It’s ongoing, and we are still in the process of investigating and talking to possible witnesses,” Pryor told the New Times Dec. 9.

The department announced Dec. 8 that it was actively investigating a possible sexual assault at the high school. The assault involved a female teacher and a male student. According to police, the high school’s administration was first made aware of the allegation, then contacted law enforcement. Pryor said the student involved was a minor, but declined to provide any further information on the unnamed victim. Pryor also declined to name the teacher, who was placed on leave by the Lucia Mar Unified School District, but has not been arrested or charged with a crime, according to police officials.

Amy Jacobs, a spokesperson for LMUSD, said the district had no comment on the investigation, and declined to identify the teacher placed on leave in connection with the police investigation.
