Animal magnetism

A year ago, Seth and Tara Daugherty's Los Osos home went up in flames. Trapped inside the burning house were priceless family photos, special keepsakes, and--worst of all--their 13-week-old Rottweiler puppy, Samson.

  • DOG DAYS : Seth and Tara Daugherty love their dogs, and recently opened a FETCH! Pet Care franchise to share their love with other county pets.

# "We based our lives around our dog," Tara said. "Samson was an extension of our family. He's the reason we did this."

With that kind of puppy love, it's easy to understand why Tara and Seth decided to use the money they received in their insurance settlement to open FETCH! Pet Care, a large and sophisticated franchise.

"We decided to do something where we could stay home and work and have dogs around," Tara said.

FETCH! Pet Care franchises are mostly known for their professional pet sitting and dog walking services, but the animal-friendly company offers more, including private pet boarding, off-leash play groups, yard poop scoop, pet taxiing, and miscellaneous home care. A free in-home consultation allows clients, pets, and sitters to get acquainted and address each pet's unique needs.

"We have amazing sitters," Tara said. "They're all genuine animal lovers."

According to the company's website, each sitter is put through an array of tests to ensure professional, reliable, loving care.

FETCH! Pet Care services aren't limited to dogs. Local sitters have experience with virtually every kind of animal: dog, cat, hamster, rabbit, iguana, turtle, fish, frog, and even horse.
