Carbon free? No. What about all the carbon it takes to mine uranium? What about all the carbon it takes to process uranium into fuel? What about all the carbon it takes to build the gigantic tombs to hold the forever toxic spent fuel? Nuclear plants are uninsurable and have to be heavily subsidized by taxpayers. Back in the 70's nuclear power was supposed to mean cheap and clean electricity for everyone. Well, it didn't work out that way then and it is not going to magically happen now.
