Re: “Pismo Chamber of Commerce to protest proposed vehicle ban at Oceano Dunes

Seems bad our cities are dependent on tourists?!?! I have news for you, Pismo Beach and the Five Cities area have been a tourist/vacation destination since 1875. One hundred and fourty-six years of rich history in providing one of the most unique vacation experiences available in the d tire works.

While there is a lot of agricultural income generated from our beautiful area, it’s the 2.43 MILLION annual visitors to the dunes alone who are responsible for most of our citizen’s ability to thrive financially and enjoy a great quality of life thanks to the collateral jobs and income those tourists generate.

Re: “Halcyon Store and Post Office to close on March 15

Sadly I have never visited the Halcyon store, though it’s a stones throw from my home. I will definitely be stopping before they close to check it out but I’m really sad to learn that it will no longer be. It concerns me greatly that perhaps a beautiful piece of property in the little village of Halcyon might be undergoing some form of development. I live on Peacock place which backs up to Grell Lane just over the hill from Halcyon, and sincerely hope that the lovely community maintains its character and charm and doesn’t decide to build a bunch of multi family dwellings or develop this quaint little hamlet.

Re: “A coming flood in Oceano

Why focus only on Cynthia? Because shes the liar that penned this steaming pile of shit New Times saw fit to publish. Shes a bigot. Shes a pandering, narcissistic gaslighter whos ego-syntonic behavior will no longer be tolerated. If she werent so possibly dangerous in convincing those dull enough to believe her BS shed be laughable. But so many folks from so many walks of life now see her for exactly what she is, and weve had it. No more playing nice with this troll. The gloves have come off and the bright light of truth is being shown on this self serving poser. I guess thats the one good thing shes done for our community here; united us. Unfortunately for her, were united to fight her hatred and rhetoric. She messed with the bull. Shes getting the well deserved horns.

Re: “A coming flood in Oceano

Please stoppit - just STOPPIT it with your campaign of self serving lies and disinformation you selfish, bitter socialist. You speak ill of those families and groups that enjoy the DESIGNATED Off Road Vehicle Park, utilizing it for its intended purpose like thats something bad. Lies. You accuse them of killing Plovers and damaging sensitive habitat. Lies. You accuse the off road community of littering. Lies. During the 7 month shut down, the only people who could access that area were the homeless and you and your small but very vocal group of minions (one of who we have actual photos of defecating in broad daylight on this very beach) - and the day it reopened, there were massive amounts of trash scattered all over, all the way to the back of the dunes. I have the video to prove it. The only people Ive ever seen coordinate beach and dune clean up days are the off road groups and your arch nemesis Linda Austin (the best thing that ever happened to Oceano). All you do is complain, fabricate, lie and try to bully. You moved here because you obviously loved our little hamlet of Oceano. Now it seems youll do anything, including being one of the most deceitful pieces of trash to ever walk OUR beach in order to destroy our beloved off road vehicle park. Go away Cynthia; youre a horrible excuse for a human being and we will no longer tolerate your manipulation of the truth to fit your self serving agenda.

Re: “Petitioners duel over possible reopening of Oceano Dunes

I’ve been a resident in some form or another for over 30 years; first in Arroyo Grande, and now, for over 20 years in Oceano. Not only have we loved having beach access for OHV use, but the five cities area literally depends in the tax base revenue from the 2.3 million OHV visitors to the dunes annually FOR THEIR LIVELIHOOD.

Those folks demanding OHV access to the beach be permanently closed don’t care their actions are completely illegal. Tax payers fund the staffing and maintenance of a public area for which they demand exclusionary use. This is a violation of all tax payers rights and is JUST.PLAIN.WRONG. It’s also a violation for the physically handicapped as the only way they can realistically access this area is via a vehicle.

There are literally 3,348.61 thousand miles of California coastline that those wishing to access for recreational use without vehicles have at their disposal. WHY close this tiny space to OHV use??? Stop being selfish. Stop violating millions of users rights!

Re: “Grand jury finds county public safety uninhibited by activities at Oceano Dunes

Born and raised for a good portion of my life on the central coast, I recently moved back “home” to Oceano; I love this area and all it has to offer.

I have many, many decades of wonderful memories; clamming, fishing, playing in the sand & building sand castles both as a child and with my grandchild. We’ve camped in everything from tents to teardrop trailers, rented units provided by local vendors and even been hosted in $300,000 motorhomes. While we’ve also enjoyed many local vacation rentals, the dunes are where our hearts and souls go to recharge & recreate.

I love the fact that the Oceano Dunes SRVA is open, accessible and affordable for ALL regardless of income, background, race, religion or creed. It’s a fantastic area which is enjoyed by over 2 Million+ visitors annually, and without it, we lose access to a unique gem. There is nothing quite as amazing as being able to drive your vehicle down to mile marker four, set up camp, and you enjoy building memories with your family and friends.

Of course, my parents raised us with a deep appreciation for nature and this beautiful space, our home away from home. We too always pack all our trash out and give a wide berth to the creatures who inhabit the area. We want to be able to continue the decades-old family tradition of accessing this wonderfully unique area.

We cannot wait to commune with nature, our children, friends & family once the dunes are open again. Thank you for your honest, scientifically fact based article. May God bless our beloved Oceano Dunes, and you as well for reporting responsibly and truthfully.
