If a criminal attacks me with a 12" knife of course the first thing I'm going to be concerned with is if maybe he has some mental health problem and if I should call the county psychiatric center. Or maybe I should try to disarm him safely so as not to hurt him. No I think I'll get a rock or a large club and beat him until he is unconscious. Why should police have to coddle these idiots?

These people are not "homeless" but vagrants and free loaders. What does Andreano mean these people are not ready to follow the rules and path of the shelter. Because they are drunks and drug addicts? So they, many of whom don't have any connection to the community are allowed to trash our parks and public spaces that responsible citizens pay for. How many COVID-19 cases have been contracted in these trash camps? Make it as uncomfortable as you can for them and perhaps they will start complying with the rules or move on.

The ADA is a law enacted to protect truly handicapped individuals and it is disgusting to see someone trying to pervert its intentions for their own selfish political agenda. The assistant store manager was correct and I think a sign stating that should be displayed at the entrance to all businesses that they are private property and that during this national crisis to stop the spread of this deadly disease you MUST wear a mask or stay out. It appears her ambulance-chasing relative who is representing her thinks he can scam Smart & Final our of some money. I would hope the court will make the Balsamo's wear masks at their trial before the judge sends them walking.

Sophie I'm old enough to be your grandfather and listened to the same outrage from well meaning adolescent during my youth when the civil rights movement was in full swing. You came out and protested but after the police demonstrated solidarity with you you pushed it to far. You were allowed to block a main street for two hours. There are other people who live here and we have rights to. Go look at the new multi-million dollar houseless shelter and all the programs for the homeless provided before you go complaining. If the bars were open the protest would not have lasted as long and there would have been no need for tear gas. Why do police wear riot gear? Check out the size of the docks that were thrown at them. As far as affording to live in SLO just stay here a few more years and as the overbuilding we are seeing and the elimination of regulations that kept everyone in line disappear no one will long to move here anymore and you will have your pick of the slum housing that's let. Residence of the city should be outrage that Harmon want to spend $100,000 while we have a $9 million shortfall to protect protesters.

What a foolish discussion. Why did the council waste time allowing these people the opportunity to whine about being forced to obey the law. The police did nothing wrong. These so-called protesters refused to disburse after numerous requests and had every intention of again endangering the lives of motorists on HWY. 101 for their childish agenda. As a real resident, not some johnny-come-lately adolescent with nothing better to do than cause trouble about things I know little about, I applaud the decision of the police to have the courage to protect our city with whatever means they deem appropriate.
