Re: “A brief reprieve

No wonder we lost the Vietnam War. With military intelligence (an oxymoron) like Al Fonzis we were doomed to lose. Just like then as now science doesnt seem to be a strong suit for Al. As they said in Vietnam, we have to destroy your village in order to save you.

Re: “Green dreamin'

Your opinion all depends on how you present the issues. For example the German system is not a failure it is simply at the next stage of infrastructure development.

The German government has stepped up efforts to stop using coal altogether. In May, it announced the formation of a task force, the "coal exit commission," to be overseen by the economy and energy ministry to explore how to reduce the use of, and eventually exit from, coal-powered energy altogether, as well as finding alternatives for workers and regions where coal power dominates.
One of the main concerns for Chancellor Angela Merkel's government is investing in and building an appropriate national power grid that is designed for a new generation of renewable energy. An estimated 7,000 kilometers of power grid routes need to be built, a massive undertaking.

Re: “Shun the character assassins

To have a political representative devoid of criticism for their actions in office would seem ludicrous. I did not see anything in Laurence's critique that had to do with Lynn Compton's personal life. Public figures are subject to rebuke or praise depending on their level of governance. Unfortunately Lynn has shown little aptitude for good governance not only by simple observation but as pointed out by Laurence.

Re: “District 4, take your pick: South County voters will choose between Lynn Compton and Jimmy Paulding for county supervisor

Compton will not face the public. Just last week she was at a Town Hall meeting with Ian Parkinson and hid in the front row when questions were directly related to her. She constantly plays the victim card when criticized for making egregious comments. Claiming that she has to wait for more science before accepting the Public Health issue at Oceano Dunes is morally corrupt. People and children are suffering and you can bet that if either one of her children faced a health threat no matter how significantly researched she would take the safe route and be preventative of that threat. She is nothing more than a mouth piece for the elite.
