Re: “Grover Beach hops on polystyrene ban bandwagon

We are indeed going to address the Foam effort to the County, and we would already have done this, but Compton has told me she would vote against it, to protect her struggling businesses to higher costs of packaging. This is no longer an issue, as the right kind of packaging is the right thing for the environment for a few pennies more per item. Business who continues to use Polystyrene Foam needs to be responsible for the impact to dead birds, foam trash that is littering the beach, gutters and ends up floating plastic debris in the ocean. We need to make a concerted effort to get supporters from every city, as well as the many who live in the unincorporated towns that are asking for a Foam ordinance. Single use plastic that will never decompose is unconscionable, as well as unhealthy for our environment.
