Re: “Erik Howell criticized for comments about the Oceano Dunes

The heart of the matter is in fact, Oceano Airport is contaminated with harmful chemicals that are leaking in the water wells.

We need folks to speak up, spread the word, and to demand transparency from the County.

This crisis has been growing for decades we need to force San Luis Obispo County to clean up these chemicals from the environment immediately and stop turning your back on people that come to you for help.

Residents that live directly across the street from the airport should not be drinking the water especially pregnant women, infants, children, elderly and medically compromised individuals. Not even your pets.

You betrayed the community with your malice, shame on you SLO County.

Re: “Erik Howell criticized for comments about the Oceano Dunes

I promised to protect individuals that want to remain anonymous in this matter, which does not lessen the urgency of this major contamination problem at the airport.

I specifically listed the location of contamination which is the condominiums directly across the street from the airport and the park.

This type of contamination reaches several miles from its focal point. There is several health concerns in that area, that is being covered up.

The proof is at San Luis Obispo Water Board Records Department. Anyone can ask for a "Freedom of Information Act" request to obtain these records.

Gail, my comments is about the political environment in Oceano and the lack of the Airport owners and County to protect its citizens.

Re: “Look for the common thread and get them out of office

I'm not Christian.
Most people who are on welfare ARE working- sometimes two low-paying jobs.
Many people on welfare are not able-bodied, and their psychological or physical abilities limit their ability to work. What do you wish to do with them? Put them out to die on the hillside?
What would Christ do?

Re: “Local support for DACA remains strong

There seems to be some remarkably one sided thinking going on here. Many of the "DACA" young people were not brought here as young children, but as teenagers. They came with their parents in violation of our border laws. They are not "stateless" as they came from other countries where they are entitled to live.

We have been paying for these students with our federal and state tax dollars. The federal legislature makes the laws, and those laws have been violated by these students. Mr. Obama said he would not enforce our laws, by executive order (such is the power of the presidency). But that order does not survive the end of his term. Mr. Trump has the same authority; that is, to allow the laws made by Congress to be enforced.

If we want to incorporate DACA in our laws, the proper place to do so is in the "people's house" (the Congress) which makes our laws. Not in the courts, which are established to interpret our laws. Otherwise, the judiciary becomes both judge and rulemaker; a role not envisioned in the Constitution.

Re: “Atascadero's proposed tiny-home development isn't affordable

Too late to stop the development approval process. The dirty appearing A-town city council approved the sham development mid week.

Now dig deep in research NTS to find out how $500/sq ft housing was considered and approved as affordable housing.

Some serious BS is taking place right under everyones (elses, not mine) noses.

Re: “They'll be watching you: Welcome to SLO's surveillance state

Recently the city of SLO has received mobile license plate readers which drive around town looking at parked cars. They then drive around later in the day and issue tickets to cars which are still parked. This has lead to ticketing in areas where the parking limits were never enforced before.
If you park in a time limited (2 hours for example) parking spot for 5 minutes, leave for a 3 hours and then come back, the city can and will ticket you. If the license plate reader vehicle came by during the 5 minutes you were parked, then made another pass when you were back. This applies to all time limited parking spaces within 500 feet.
SLO parking code says that when you park in a time limited space, you can not park there again until the limit plus 3 hours have passed, or you may be ticketed.

I was there, and it was an exciting time. So many folks, and so many of them women, have been jolted out of their background lives by the ongoing train wreck that has been Trump. They are not going back to the shadows, they are fired up and motivated. Democracy in action, and so much action. Love it.

Re: “Atascadero's proposed tiny-home development isn't affordable

This was my first thought on reading about this proposal, I'd never spend that much money on such a ridiculously small space. I only moved to Atascadero a year ago and am very disappointed in the politics here :(

Re: “Trump

Remarkable. The first president to confront Chinese mercantilism, a leader who has brought unparalleled growth in the economy and expanded jobs to the point where we have the historic lowest unemployment for minorities; a leader who has severely cut regulatory bloat, who wants to get the federal government out of our schools. I would say your criticisms are without specificity and tell us nothing about grounds for your objections.

Re: “Look for the common thread and get them out of office

Good point. I guess it is obvious. If you degrade the schools, expand welfare, reduce expectations by accommodating bad behavior; you get what we see in all the large cities run by Democrats. The reality is that in all things, reasonable discipline is required to live together; people who work are more likely to be good neighbors than those on welfare.

Everyone wants to be nice to our fellow man; but letting able bodied folks live off their neighbors work is demeaning to both the neighbors and themselves. Note however, that government gains power by expanding welfare; and has done so in all the big cities.
