Re: “'Cash only': It's easier now than ever to swipe cards, but for a select few stubborn SLO County businesses, cash stands for more than just convenience

Dinosaurs and tax cheats!

No problem. I do take my immense buying power elsewhere EVERY.SINGLE.TIME I encounter a Cash Only vendor.

I have a different reason why, Cash Only allows for business tax fraud to be made far easier. I'm not going to enable tax cheats. And yes, I assume ALL cash only vendors skim the top to reduce tax liabilities. I'm a former accountant that knows the shell games companies, big or small played.

Electronic transactions must be accounted for to Uncle Sam. Pay ALL of your tax bill or continue to die like the dinosaur.

Re: “Owner of SLO Tribune faces uncertain future

The Tribune is NOT a news source. It is a liberal (socialist) "fake news" organization that spews miss-information.

People like "Kevin" really hate it when his tribe's hatred is brought to light, and he responds by insisting that we must stop hating haters for their hatred. The mind reels.

Re: “Nipomo 'Citizen of the Year' facing scrutiny over offensive Facebook posts

Slippery slope gang. Regardless of his personal opinion/comments, we must respect ALL American’s 1st amendment rights. I mean, can you honestly tell me you’ve never posted anything on social media that someone, somewhere may find offensive? How would you like to lose your job over voicing your personal opinion? It works both ways....but in a case like this, it’s piece of cake to just keep scrolling and stop trying to litigate every.single.angle of someone’s life.

Harrison simply follows the playbook of Nazi propaganda minister, Joseph Goebbels who famously advised, "blame the other side for what your side is guilty of."Harrison compares democrats to Nazis but his own party happily embraces actual Nazis and Dear Leader Trump heartily encourages them.

Re: “Extreme politics have no place in local government

It's funny that the left continue to claim Trump has made us divisive, he only exposed how the true left are along with the righteous righty's he's not choosing but exposing them from how the general public sees them. This has been escalating since the 80's and now someone who really doesn't care what the left or the right think speaks his mind without any diplomacy or political correctness, this is what Americans truly want enough with all the lies both parties. He'll win easily in November and all will have to deal with him for another 4 years hopefully all the bickering and whining will subside but I highly doubt it.

Re: “Drama machine

The factual inaccuracies in the latest San Luis Obispo New Times Shredder column titled “Drama machine,” show a desperate attempt to produce drama and a failure to accurately report the news.

While trying to draw a parallel between the partisan disagreements at the SLO County Board of Supervisors and the Oceano Community Services District Board’s latest tussle, the Shredder claimed three conservative members of the Oceano board attempted to block a liberal environmentalist, Cynthia Replogle, from serving on any committees.

Sorry to have to inform the Shredder, but the two Oceano directors who motioned to block Replogle, Karen White and Shirley Gibson, are both liberal Democrats. The Shredder’s epiphany appears to be based on a badly made guess that the bullies were Republicans, which a few minutes of research could have corrected.

This was not a partisan move at all, this is the life-long old guard of Oceano and Halcyon circling the wagons to protect what they believe is the preferred way of life for their depressed community. Replogle is a refreshing voice for progressive change.

In another paragraph, the Shredder inaccurately maligns the south county community with claims that John Wallace used to be the Oceano district’s administrator while the Wallace Group provided engineering services. It appears the Shredder is aware Wallace was convicted of conflicts of interest for funneling money to his engineering firm while serving as the administrator of a public entity.

But sorry Shredder, you’ve mixed up your public entities. The Oceano Community Services District and the South San Luis Obispo County Sanitation District, where Wallace was a former administrator, are two different agencies. Oops!

While it is clear the Shredder is no fan of my “incessant crap-stirring,” the New Times editor cannot champion Replogle’s right to free speech and quash mine at the same time. Knowing that many Oceano residents would likely stand up to the old guard, I filed a formal complaint – also known as a Cure and Correct Demand — to compel the district to do the right thing and rehear the matter.

The Shredder is seriously out of touch and the inaccurate reporting is damaging to our community.

Best,

Julie Tacker-- Community Activist

Re: “Nipomo 'Citizen of the Year' facing scrutiny over offensive Facebook posts

Not "Citizen of the Year" material, not even close. There is no problem with him "expressing his personal opinion". Don't confuse the issue. The issue is that his personal opinion is despicable, negative, and just plain WRONG. Award should go to someone else. If your stupid enough to make public your dark side, you not smart enough to deserve "Citizen of the Year". There has to be someone more deserving.

Re: “tRump's America

"And parents say if the State of California enforces the vaccine mandates in order for children to be enrolled in all schools, they will pull their kids out of California schools and even leave the state." So it says in the most recent issue of COLAB's "Weekly Update," the right wing rag of Santa Barbara carpetbaggers Mike Brown and Andy Caldwell, the puppet masters of Lynn Compton and Debbie Arnold. Of course, California's children (and unvaccinated adults) would be much safer if unvaccinated persons DID leave the State, as "herd immunity" is a real thing.

But I don't believe in pimping "anti-vaxx" disinformation for some of the same reasons that I don't believe that either the NT or the Bay Theatre should promote pro-pedophilia beliefs: Both have long-lasting deleterious effects on the health and well-being of children (and society) and both exist only to satisfy the depravity of their proponents. Children die from diseases that are wholly preventable, and the science is not unsettled in the least. Yes, a very few children cannot receive vaccinations for medical reasons, and the rest of us vaccinate in order to protect THEM. But to pretend that anti-science "anti-vaxx" hystericals must be granted equal access to your media and our community's theaters (theatres, if you must) in the name of free speech is to misunderstand completely the applicability of the 1st Amendment--something any freshman journalist or opinion scribe should comprehend.

Re: “Nipomo 'Citizen of the Year' facing scrutiny over offensive Facebook posts

This is for Lisa Price: I for one, have never posted anything remotely as extremist and offensive as the recent examples from Jim Harrison. And I doubt you have either. Harrison's bad behavior is trivialized by trying to change it into a "free speech" issue. Such hateful posts have and will fuel harassment and violence against those similarly demonized on social media. Harrison is a public official and public servant of ALL of SLO County, not just right wing extremists.

Notice this man's non-apology apology! He is only "sorry" that some people may be offended. He is not sorry for promulgating his racist ideology.

A peek into Harrison's past social media postings reveals that he himself is an unabashed white nationalist, since he says vile, misogynistic things about black and Hispanic women.

Trump devotees are scum. No decent person supports the orange turd, only sociopaths, idiots & sadists do. They are all neo-Nazis at heart & some of them like Harrison are just more open about what they are.

"Environmental justice" is a made up euphemism to promote neo-racism, hate, and to rewrite existing law for the selfish and outspoken.
