Re: “Making it: Actors work to earn a living on the Central Coast

Thanks for this great story! I was raised on going to PCPA performances and feel fortunate to have such a unique experience as the Melodrama right in our "back yard". I've recently re-discovered SLO Rep and am amazed at the consistent quality of the productions!! My daughter and I recently went to see Lost in Yonkers and it was outstanding! No need to go to "the big city" for quality theater - we've got plenty here in SLO! It was so nice to get a glimpse of the lives of some of those people who work so hard to bring us great theater here on the Central Coast!

Re: “Confessional poetry

Roberts' memoir, the same alluded to above, "Almost Somewhere", is a charming read, and definitely worth a look.

Re: “David Settino Scott pays homage to the ultimate form of protest at the Steynberg Gallery through March

With the emerging youth political movements around guns and immigration, would you consider SLO High as the location? The impact on young students would have long-lasting effect.

Re: “'Hostiles' delivers a gripping Western tale of the clash between Native Americans and their conquerors

This film is set in 1892, a time when the Indian wars were over, but there's a scene where a Commanche war party massacres a settler family, something that no longer occurred in the 1890's.. The last bands of hostile Commanches surrendered incrementally through the 1870's & early 1880's & by the end of that decade, the herds of bison had been all but exterminated & the nomadic warrior tribes that depended on them for sustenance were starved into submission . Well before 1892, the f the last holdouts had laid down their arms & were placed on reservations. Hence, the movie starts out with a historical error.

Re: “Leisurenauts: Three days in Cali's retirement mecca

No one from California, unless you're recently from LA, calls our state Cali. It's like W.Bush calling nuclear "nucular" or calling a realtor "realitor". You say it enough, people begin to think it's a real word.

Re: “Hidden oasis: A quick getaway can be found at the tranquility of Montaña de Oro State Park

Karen, I hate to spoil your fun, but Montana de Oro is a State Park. The reason it felt like a gold mine for rock collecting while you were there is that all features are protected - rocks, creatures, shells, plants, etc. - for the benefit of the ecosystem and all visitors and inhabitants. Please return the rocks you took, and do not encourage others to remove anything from a State Park. Yes, enjoy visiting, hiking, taking photos, and touching the rocks. But please leave them where you find them before you go home! Thanks!

this is one of my favorite all time movies! I agree with everything you've said in this article - WHY doesn't this get more love? And don't leave out Cloris Leachman as the school nurse! Thanks for writing this!

Love Peggy's work, these photos are simply stunning and reflect a part of Venice I had heard about but know very little about. It inspired me to look on line to find out a bit more. Thank you for sharing your passion Peggy, it's been wonderful following your creative passion.
