Re: “Home on the water: One family lives in Port San Luis Harbor but a rent increase is moving them out

I just wanted to raise some points to this comment. First, we do not pollute the bay. We have a compost toilet that puts out zero discharge, that is disposed of onshore , and by the time it is disposed is ready to be used in a garden. Our boat runs totally on solar for our living aboard needs(no gas or diesel generator). Also, we have been paying property taxes here (as well as in San Diego) because of living on our boat. So please get your facts straight. The county services are a joke. The showers are filthy and broken most of the time, the laundry rooms too. These are also open to the public, not an amenity just for liveaboards. I take offense at you saying we're abusing our kids. They are probably the most well adjusted, smart(They have 3.8 and 4.0 GPAs) , friendly kids you'll ever meet. We take care of all their needs and more. How dare you say that without knowing us, Anne Rider

Re: “Advocates raise alarms about county cannabis policy

I Think San Luis Obispo needs to figure this out and fast. Because other towns around us are going to pass us up with all this and we will loose out on a lot of tax money that could go to very good use. They are worried about the power plant closing and all the money the city will loose? Well this is an opportunity to make up for some of the lost revenue. Come on we tax alcohol and tobacco this IS NOT any different. As far as I am concerned Alcohol is worse then pot will ever be. Be smart San Luis you could make a lot of money very fast. I just honestly think the county needs to open their eye's.

Re: “Home on the water: One family lives in Port San Luis Harbor but a rent increase is moving them out

The first person to post to these comments is clearly an uninformed fool who does not know this family. You have some nerve to insinuate that his family pollutes the bay and that he is somehow abusing his kids. What an absolute ignorant comment to make. I have known C.C. Rider (yes, that's his real name) since high school. This guy lived and breath surfing and the beach lifestyle. His wife Anne is a smart, beautiful and amazing mother. They have both raised these kids with clarity, focus and manners. Yes, manners!!! I kid you not . . . you will not find kids who are more polite. They are ridiculously smart too. You'd be hard pressed to find other kids who are more knowledgeable about the beach, environment and marina lifestyle. Their GPA's speak for themselves. I have visited their Tiki home "on the water" many times and have pumped thousands of dollars into the Avila Beach Community during my numerous week-long visits. In the time they have lived there, I have seen the marina and surrounding community deteriorate - and that's coming from a tourist. I've seen customer service take a nose dive too. It's simply not as desirable as it use to be. I can absolutely understand CC not feeling welcomed like in years past. CC and Anne have chosen the lifestyle they want for their kids. Anyone who passes judgment on them for doing so should be ashamed of themselves. They are the type of people who would give you the shirt off their back. They are involved in their community and are amazing stewards of the environment and harbor. All four of them are beautiful people, both inside and out, and if they pull up anchor and sail further up the coast - it would be Port San Luis' loss and Morro Bay's gain.

Re: “Neighbors take Morro Bay, auto shop to court over permit

The shop was there first. Easy decision. The complainer ought to pay for the lawyer fees too.

Re: “Home on the water: One family lives in Port San Luis Harbor but a rent increase is moving them out

I've known CCrider for several years and he and his family are some of the nicest folks you'd ever hope to meet. It is a shame that they are being put in this spot, especially during the holidays. With the ridiculously high rents in California, you'd think that cities would not do things that create hardships for good citizens who's only crime is not living the cookie cutter lifestyle.

Re: “Blow-up at SLO Democrats meeting highlights party division

The last quote succinctly wraps up the problem with gov't these days. "This business is not about fighting each other. This business is about getting these clowns out of office." Wrong. "This business", gov't business, is about doing the right thing for as many of your citizens as is possible. Your job is to get good things to happen regardless of party offiliations. Short sighted people think it's us vs them, and that's why we're screwed. Homeless everywhere, crap roads, undrinkable water in many places, dirty polluted beaches, traffic causing further pollution, costing money, and wasting time (kinda makes that whole no drive through thing moot), housing crisis off the charts (are you proud that SLO is the 6th most unnaffordable place in the country? How is that being an advocate for the poor who riddle your streets and parks?), and all you officials seem to care about is winning partisan battles. Here's the deal, it's not about you, it's about the job and you people getting out of your self centered heads long enough to do some real good. Time to closet those egos before the pick and shovel crew get fed up and run you all out.

Re: “For bike's sake: New bike facilities are coming to SLO, concerning some residents and commuters

"I'm sure the rest of the town is very much in favor of this until you put the bike lane in front of their house," explained resident Glidden.

Please put one in front of my house. It would be refreshing to see a street with more people (and kids!?) breathing fresh air, and less people driving at reckless speeds through their usual "short cut." Maybe Glidden would consider putting his house up for sale and moving to the mid-west?

Re: “Supervisors decline to take stance on offshore oil drilling expansion

How can anybody NOT be against off shore oil drilling in California?? And if the Feds ask for local input, why would you NOT tell them that?? Lets NOT keep Lynn Compton around next election.

Re: “Eckles to challenge Gibson for 2nd District supervisor seat

This is Jeff Eckles and I must reply to the libelous and untrue remarks made on this thread by "rightword2".
I did not suddenly close my investment advisory business. I was in that business for over 20 years and retired from it about 4 years ago.
I opened the retail shop in Morro Bay 8 years ago. It continues to do well.
I am not unemployed, nor have I ever in my life filed for bankruptcy.
Lastly, no party preference means I am not registered w a political party but am registered to vote. I judge issues on their own merit, not through the lens of partisan ideology. It's called being Independent.

I hesitate to engage on a board like this but when flat out lies are posted, they must be addressed.

Re: “Home on the water: One family lives in Port San Luis Harbor but a rent increase is moving them out

First I wanna say thanks for the nice comments ! (well most of them ;)
Just the facts
A: we own the mooring not rent

B: we pay property taxes the port fees quarterly & once a year mooring inspection.

C: the $250 monthly (live-aboard)fee extra plus $100 permit fee is way more then we paid in San Diego http://www.sandiegomooring.com/rates.htm for a protected bay that we never had to leave.

D: I had folks that went to the port meeting tell us they said "we want them out" meaning us .

Have A Merry Christmas Everybody! CC-ya -=CC=-

Re: “Stalwork and SLO clash over downtown building's color

Dear City of SLO,
How about working on the adobes you are responsible for?
Stalwork does neat, clean and innovative work, including their headquarters. If they broke the rules, slap them on the wrist and move on. You have many important issues that need your attention.

Re: “Judge rejects developer's demand for $500,000 from SLO residents

The developer sought the identification and personal financial information of all supporters of Friends of 71 Palomar by alleging we opposed the low income units included in the project. No such objection has ever been made, we are seeking a full and valid EIR as to the Historic House, urban forest, and biological assets including raptors.

Re: “A mother from Grover Beach faces deportation in January

These alt right trolls (Lillie White??? White dog??) Show about as much humanity as you'd expect from a failed white supremacist. Similar news article in the SLO Tribune had similar trolls and their hateful remarks. They need more fiber in their diet, this constant life of hiding under bridges and eating little children has impacted their colon (and their thought process's, closely related). I wrote a comment to the Tribune article, and am copying it here, as its basically the same subject.

What a sad, heartless series of comments from our Alt-Right trolls. Did ANY of you have a mother??? ANY of you have any challenges in your (or your family/friends) lives that some one might have helped with?? ANY of you read the Bible, and listened to its message of love and forgiveness??? This is Christmas, a time of love and compassion, and you spew such hatred??
Trump spews this filth and anger because it gets him and his billionaire friends a big tax cut, but whats it get you??? A birthright of white supremacy?? Good luck cashing that check. We do have problems in this country, but the solution is to help each other, not kick the weaker into the gulch. Mitch McConnell and Paul Ryan are wetting themselves in excitement of cutting Social Security and Medicare next year to pay for their 1.5 Trillion tax cut (they have announced this), how is that going to help the middle class??? We are all just people, with a wide range of situations, but we all do better, when we all do better. When 60% of the tax cuts go to the top 0.1%, you and your children are just going to be cannon fodder in their next war (stay tuned, they are already talking about it).

Re: “SLO 'unlawfully altered' special election ballot, county DA says

If the City Council really wanted an impartial analysis of the Petition/measure they would not have had the City Attorney undertake that. Where was the City Council and City Attorney for the year this was in the works? Why didn't they reach out to the Petitioners earlier on? It is the City Attorney that is responsible for the unnecessary cost of this election which will likely be contested if it fails based upon her unlawful action.

Re: “Paso Market Place proposed for downtown unsettles neighbors, awaits City Council approval

That corner looks blighted. A responsible, sophisticated person who wants to improve and invest in downtown Paso Robles should be welcomed. Especially if it's a good project. Drive those folks away, and the residents end up with unviable hodgepodge.

Re: “Division plagues South County Sanitation District

We need some younger blood in there. I tried and tried many years ago but too many twice my age fought me on everything I had to say period there was too much fighting and arguing going on that was ridiculous and getting nowhere I stepped out because of this. I tried to get other homeowners in Oceano involved without help Oceano wake up if we get some new blood in there with new ideas we can make this town boom again if you look up the history Oceano is where it all started for the five cities everyone came here for their groceries Etc. We are a wonderful beautiful little area and we are growing and remodeling and looking more like we should but we need to get our supervisors all on the same page or get new supervisors in office ASAP. If you live or have ever lived in Oceano or care about it please share this post we are truly in need of more input and new ideas.

Re: “Utilities commission rejects Diablo's community settlement

Steven Zawalick , the accusatory letter writer, seems to have missed an important fact: PG&E initiated the closing procedure because they deemed the plant a financial liability not worthy of investing more money in. Nobody forced PG&E to make that monumental business decision.

Ignorance about facts is not a crime, but when ignorance is the foundation of mean-spirited, emotional attacks on others it does border on criminal.

Wanting to safeguard our community and share relevant facts does not make one a hater. Sorry, dude. You now owe a lot of fine, good-hearted and caring people an apology Steven.

Re: “Grover Beach mother deported to Mexico

This is what happens with a President who based his campaign on racism and anger. They may come for your family and friends next time, remember this, and vote them out next time.
