Where was Brown?

San Luis Obispo

The attorney general of the state of California should be censured for not having a representative at the Charlie Lynch federal trial, one whom might have assisted in the defense of the man who broke no state laws and did not engage in interstate [drug] trafficking (Re: “Lynch guilty on all charges,” Aug. 7, 2008). The representative could have done this by calling for the admissibility of exculpating evidence, and by taking a stand on the meddling of the Feds that reduces sales taxes for the state. The attorney general can still weigh in on the sentencing, but won’t. Even the county sheriff is complicit in this bit of theater. A certain type of person is drawn to this sort of work. Religious. And they want to make martyrs as they wash their hands.
