The State Supreme Court's ruling should stand

Paso Robles

I’m heterosexual, happily married, and I have loved ones and friends who are gay. I’ve heard all your arguments against gay marriage, and I understand it’s extremely difficult for some of you to change the way you think for a variety of reasons. But regardless of your reasons, we continue to treat gays as second-class U.S. citizens.

Well guess what? Gays aren’t going away just because you don’t believe or approve of their way of life. Them having the right to get married and divorced is not going to interfere with your life or your marriage any differently than heterosexual couples will. In a constitutional democracy, the majority is not always supposed to have its way, and the California Supreme Court showed tremendous leadership when it overturned Proposition 22. Its ruling should stand.
