Please explain this homeless situation to me 

Let’s see if I have this straight. The April 6 edition of the Trib’s article, titled “Proposed homeless facility gets big boost from county,” states that our board of supervisors (three years after the 86-page plan for the “Ten Year Plan to End Chronic Homelessness” was written) has declared 1.1 acres off Prado Road as “surplus,” making a site available for their proposed homeless shelter. If and when this new shelter is built, homeless children will “get out of cots in churches and into beds.” Who will choose which children get beds, since, by the county’s own estimation, there are approximately 2,000 homeless children and approximately 149 beds in the new shelter, which will be available in “several more years”?

We don’t need to reinvent the wheel here. There are so many plans that other U.S. cities are implementing to get homeless people into homes (not just shelters), such as the 100,000 Homes Campaign, free for the joining, in which our county has chosen not to participate.

Meanwhile, county taxpayers’ dollars are funding government staff to harass and work toward shutting down private programs that provide real homes (not just shelters) for our local homeless. Could you please explain?
