No mistake

For those of you who, like me, are in awe and shock at the new administration I offer some small bit of consolation: There are no mistakes. I do not understand why the universe chose our new president as the leader of the free world. I have ideas about how things might work out for the good of the world but can only hope that something good actually happens. However, there are no mistakes. When something happens, it happens for a reason. In hindsight, the worst times of my life led to meaningful personal growth. I believe the same will be true of Donald Trump.

When W. took office liberals feared the worst. If the worst of the Bush administration was war with Iraq, then I believe it was for the best reason in a global spiritual growth perspective—George Bush unleashed the beginning of the end of the world’s most enduring tribal wars. Spiritual masters have said that world peace cannot be achieved until all the tribal wars are settled.

Our nation is in the throes of its own tribal war; our nationalistic identity is a tribal trait that is splitting our nation and separating us from the rest of the world. I don’t know what it all means, but I am hopeful that humanity has not come this far only to return to the dark ages. Donald Trump may be one step back, but he will not cancel out the two steps forward of his predecessor. Those of us who wish to live in peace and harmony must continue to know that everything happens for a reason, and there are no mistakes.
