Otis Page and the Duck Dynasty actor are wrong when they say homosexuality is a sin (“Who’s intolerant now?” Jan. 2). No place in the Bible, and I mean no place, does it say homosexuality is a sin. If your Bible says it is a sin, as does my mother’s, it is seriously mistranslated. Leviticus 18:22 and 20:13 are the passages most often cited. In both cases, the King James version uses the word abomination to describe homosexuality.
If we go back to the original languages of the Bible, Hebrew and next Greek, we discover the words used mean unclean. The word for sin is not used. The admonitions in Leviticus were to keep the Israelites from doing what the Egyptians and Canaanites were doing. There are many such admonitions, which I am sure Otis and others break every day. To single out homosexuality from all other rules indicates an agenda or ignorance (not doing one’s own homework).
