Intolerant but legal

Santa Maria

Regarding the noose and Confederate flag that were displayed outside the Crops House on the Cal Poly campus, I read with interest what some supposedly educated adults had to say about this childish incident. By displaying these distasteful symbols those childish Cal Poly students showed their disrespect for others. But they did not break any laws.

A noose is just a rope. The Confederate flag is just a symbol of a failed rebellion. We can buy this reminder of failure on shirts, hats, and coffee cups all over the world. Why anyone would want to identify with this failed rebellion I do not understand. Do not give these people so much press.

The more attention some people get, the more they act out. I find it confusing that intolerant people demand tolerance from others.

What should the San Simeon CSD do to continue its obligations?

  • Divest—they can't pay for water and wastewater responsibilities.
  • Dissolve—they can't properly handle what a governing body should.
  • Focus on getting grants and raising rates to pay for their capital projects.
  • I didn't even know San Simeon had a government.
