I shudder to think what could have happened 

I would like to thank Representative Lois Capps for joining 90 other representatives in taking a strong stance against Social Security cuts.

We have to stop Republicans from trying to eliminate things they don’t like, such as Social Security and Medicare. Social Security is not in a crisis, it’s working the way it’s supposed to. And since we all pay into it, we have a right to the money we contributed like all of the recipients before us. I expect to be able to retire at the age my parents retired, as I have contributed to the fund just as they did.

Imagine what would have happened if George Bush would have had his way and privatized Social Security. As the economy tanked and the stock market crashed, the amount of seniors who would have lost everything would have been unfathomable.

So thanks to Lois, and let’s keep pushing for our leaders to stand up for the American people.
