Hooray for Venditti

Los Osos

The upcoming Los Osos Community Services District contest is a far more important election in our community than many people realize. The CSD has major financial hurdles ahead brought on primarily by nonsense Taxpayer Watch lawsuits and, as a water purveyor, has potentially serious water availability issues to figure out. It’s therefore critical to pay close attention to the specific qualities of the candidates and choose someone who has the background and temperament to effectively address the issues.

I’ve known and worked with Karen Venditti on various projects over several years and have been consistently impressed with her clarity of thinking, her curiosity, and her ability to comprehend complex issues. She thinks independently, does her own research, seeks out different points of view, and comes to her own conclusions. She asks questions and challenges decisions when it’s appropriate. She’s been the most active member on the financial committee of the Technical Advisory Committee (TAC). She’s been involved with many community education projects, ranging from concerns about Proposition 218 to various workshops on water conservation and collection issues.

Venditti will stand up for our community for affordability—a huge concern in the prohibition zone—for environmental sustainability, for water basin conservation, and for fiscal responsibility. And, very importantly, she comes with no strings attached to the sources of the frivolous lawsuits currently decimating the CSD.

We deserve a CSD director who understands what’s at stake and who has the personal qualities to handle the job. We need Karen Venditti on the Los Osos Board of Directors.
