The Centennial Plaza project planned for the Village of Arroyo Grande would close Short Street and instead create a plaza. Many parking spaces behind Olohan Alley would be lost and Farmers’ Market space would be severely impacted. The project also entails the demolition of an historic building and creation of fake “old” buildings. Our village is old and has Heritage Park to celebrate that fact along with many wonderful museums. It’s time we stopped “prettying up” the village. Most of us moved here because it was a nice small town with good weather and good soil. I realize tourists bring business to the merchants and money to the city, but that shouldn’t be our primary purpose for creating a new park. The residents should be considered, too
