CAPSLO offers tattoo removal to more than convicts

In last week’s New Times, there was a short article about a new tattoo removal practice (“Shrink that ink,” May 28). Although we always welcome new businesses into town, the article mentioned a community program offering removal of gang tattoos to former convicts that I didn’t feel told the whole story.

CAPSLO’s Liberty Tattoo Removal program is a nonprofit community program that will help anyone remove anti-social, gang related, visible tattoos, or ones that are causing a problem in life (such as a reminder of a former addiction). We do not charge, although we do require all clients to be clean and sober, to volunteer 16 hours at a nonprofit of their choice, or to make a donation based on the size of their tattoo. We have been removing tattoos since 2001, and last year we received an award from the Red Cross as a corporate hero for helping our community with this common problem. Our laser was purchased two years ago and is considered state of the art, and will remove all color.

So, although we do also help formerly incarcerated people in our county, we help just as many who have never been in trouble with the law but have been guilty of choosing an inappropriate tattoo that is causing them problems in their current life. If we can help you, please contact us at 544-2484, Ext. 2.
