I write in response to The Shredder column “Talking to myself” (Jan. 14), which implies Al Gore and scientists have nothing to gain by saying global warming is real. Maybe The Shredder can do some research and respond with truth. First, how much money has Gore made by promoting this global warming theory? Take into account the money he earned from his movie, his speeches on the subject, and so on. Apparently, he’s made enough to tour the world in his not-so-Earth-friendly private jet to promote this global warming idea and persuade us to do our part to save the planet. Does The Shredder think that when Gore reaches his destination to give a speech, he rides a bicycle or a hybrid vehicle to the venue? I doubt that’s what Gore does. And how much money have the scientists been paid to research this theory?
I guess everyone else should be like The Shredder and take everything that Gore says as the truth: After all, he did invent the Internet, right?
