On Monday evening, Nov. 15, drivers traveling down Los Osos Valley Road in San Luis Obispo were confronted by a man standing in the middle of the road, swinging a 5-foot sword at passing cars.
When police officers arrived, they found traffic stopped and backed up in both directions, one damaged car, and another car that had swerved off the road. They also found Michael Graham, a 21-year-old resident of San Luis Obispo, wearing only a pair of pants as he crawled down the middle of road with the sword.
Officers say that after they ordered Graham to drop his sword, he did and police were able to take him to Sierra Vista Hospital. Assuming that their suspect was under the influence of drugs, officers went to Graham’s house where they confiscated a small amount of cocaine, psychedelic mushrooms, and prescription medication.
Later that evening, Graham was booked into the county jail for being under the influence of, and for possession of, drugs. ³
