SLO bus routes on Google finder

There’s a new, easy way to figure out which bus to take within the City of San Luis Obispo. The city and other agencies have linked city bus route information with Google, and the result is a bus-finding tool that’s as simple to use as Google Maps.

The link is Google.com/transit. Enter starting and ending destinations and it tells a seeker where to walk to pick up a bus, which bus to grab, and departure times.

“Cities all over the world are using Google transit,” said Morgen Marshall of SLO Regional Rideshare. “We hopped on board, and here it is.”

Marshall said there are plans to incorporate the rest of the county’s fixed-route bus systems into the Google finder soon.

“Our goal is the same as everyone else’s, and that’s to get cars off the roads,” she said. The Google service is free to the city, but the city’s data had to first be converted for Google use. The system can also be reached through rideshare.org.
