Sheriff's spokesman dies at 61

San Luis Obispo County Sheriff's Office spokesman Rob Bryn was found dead in his home on March 1. He was 61.

Bryn, who worked with the department since 2007, is suspected to have died of natural causes. He was discovered after failing to show up for work. Sheriff's deputies were sent to check on his welfare and found him at his home at about 10:55 a.m., according to a news release.

No foul play is suspected. Medical examiners were on scene and had not yet completed their investigation as of this writing.

Bryn leaves behind two daughters.

His local career began in 1982 with the Morro Bay Police Department. He went on to work with the San Luis Obispo Police Department from 1986 through 2005.

Bryn was well known by local media as the go-to for the Sheriff's Office. Cmdr Aaron Nix told New Times, "[The loss] will be as traumatic for people in your industry as it is for ours."
