Thirty-five health-care vendors came to the Veteran’s Memorial Hall in San Luis Obispo on Oct. 1 as part of a health-care expo, the result of a collaboration between the city and county of San Luis Obispo. The vendors answered questions about health-care reform and retirement from approximately 250 state, county, and city employees. County Benefits Coordinator Cecilia Fontes told New Times that there was a very positive reaction from the attendees, and many left with a better understanding of what the new reforms mean for their coverage. Additionally, French Hospital staffers were on hand to give lipid panel tests for cholesterol, and the county health department conducted blood pressure tests and administered flu shots to employees who wanted them. At the time this photo was taken, the event was wrapping up after four hours of operation. The event was offered free of charge.
