River Oaks Hot Springs & Spa in Paso Robles will host the ninth Annual Winemakers' Invitational Cook-off on Aug. 11. More than 30 of the Central Coast's winemakers are expected to compete for the title of winemaker-chef. Pasolivo Olive Oil is the main sponsor for the cook-off, which will feature winemakers preparing cuisine to pair with their favorite wines. All proceeds benefit the Paso Rotary's Harlow Ford Scholarship Foundation through which 15 local graduating high school seniors were awarded $30,000 this year. French Hospital Medical Center is now accepting applications from community nonprofit organizations for its 2007 Catholic Healthcare West Community Grants Program. Organizations interested in receiving funding must complete a letter of intent by Aug. 24, which will then be reviewed by the local grants committee to decide which organizations will be invited to submit full applications. Full proposals are due by Oct. 5, and the final determinations of grant awards will be made by early December. San Luis Obispo has again been awarded the honor of being host to the stage finish in the 2008 Amgen Tour of California. The 700-mile, eight-day race will take place Feb. 17 through 24 and will run through California's state highways, roadways, and coastline drives. Other hosts along the route include Sacramento, San Jose, Santa Barbara, Santa Clarita, Santa Rosa, Sausalito, Seaside, Solvang, and newly appointed hosts Modesto, Palo Alto and Pasadena.
