San Luis Surf Company announced its grand opening, set for Oct. 4 during San Luis Obispo Farmers' Market. The downtown Central Coast surf store, located on the corner of Higuera and Morro streets, will kick off festivities with the release of Glass Apparel's latest movie, Field of Vision. The surf-inspired film will be projected on the side of the building at 5 p.m. and will be followed by an array of Video Action Sports surf, skate, and snowboarding movies. The Wavehogs Surf Band will provide live musical entertainment throughout the evening. In an effort to show their customer appreciation, San Luis Surf Company will hold a storewide sale Thursday through Saturday, giving customers a 10- to 50-percent discount on all items, from hats to surfboards and everything in between.

Marriott International announced that it opened the 130-room Courtyard by Marriott in Paso Robles on Sept. 27. To "meet the evolving needs of the traveler," according to a press release, Courtyard redesigned its public space to include a business library with individual work stations, high-speed data ports, and ergonomic chairs a pantry-style "grab and go" food and beverage area known as The Market and a lounge area for working, meeting, and dining. The four-story hotel also offers 1,200 square feet of meeting space, a Courtyard Cafe restaurant and wine bar, room service, an outdoor pool with a spa, a 24-hour exercise room, and a business center.
