A 2 a.m. brawl Sunday morning sent one to the hospital and one to jail. According to a SLOPD press release, two officers “witnessed what appeared to be a fight breaking up at the Higuera and Garden intersection.�
Officers found Terence Liszewski, 23 of Santa Maria, unconscious on the sidewalk. He was unresponsive and had visible head trauma. Paramedics brought Liszewski to the hospital.
Minutes later, police detained Baran Nohutcuoglu, 22, of SLO, at the intersection of Broad and Higuera. According to the press release, Nohutcuoglu was identified as the person responsible for beating up Liszewski — “according to a witness, the two men were fighting and, as Liszewski was on the ground, Nohutcuoglu stomped upon his head with one of his shoes.�
Nohutcuoglu was arrested and booked for assault likely to cause great bodily injury and assault causing serious bodily injury. Liszewski has been released from the hospital.
