New Times: What’s the longest time you’ve spent on a site?
Harvey: I put up windows at a hospital for a solid two months.
New Times: What’s the funniest thing that has ever happened on site?
Harvey: We worked on a house one time at a location in north county, and it was very trashy and disgusting. Inside the kitchen, right underneath the stove-burners was a dead mouse that was caught in a trap and it seemed like it had been there for a while. The owner walked past it multiple times while we were there and didn’t care to notice it. It was actually pretty gross, but we had a good laugh about it.
New Times: The scariest?
Harvey: Oh, one time back home I was on a 40-foot ladder that was fully extended on a very windy day. I had a 5-foot-4-inch piece of glass over my head and just didn’t feel very comfortable at all. Did I mention it was windy?
New Times: What music do you listen to while at work?
Harvey: I prefer classic rock, but the stations around here are pretty pathetic. If I had my iPod though, we’d be listening to Zeppelin, Creedence, America.
New Times: When is the last time you sang to yourself?
Harvey: Yesterday, I sang Ventura Highway by America: “Ventura Highway in the sunshine/ where the days are longer/ the nights are stronger than the moonlight/ You’re gonna go I know.”
New Times: What’s your favorite tool?
Harvey: I’d have to say the razor knife. It’s by far the tool we use the most. The suction cup is pretty cool too.
New Times: What’s the heaviest window you’ve lifted?
Harvey: Well, this is 300 lbs. right here and you wouldn’t want to lift much heavier than this; probably 350 lbs. would be the most.
