County will resume code enforcement actions against Sunny Acres

San Luis Obispo County announced it would resume code enforcement actions on Sunny Acres, rancher Dan De Vaul's sober living facility for the homeless on the edge of San Luis Obispo.

In a statement issued June 8, the county announced De Vaul had lost an appeal case with the Second District Court of Appeal. With that announcement, county officials say they will resume enforcing a court order issued by SLO County Superior Court Judge Charles Crandall to ensure that the DeVaul property "is maintained in a manner that is not hazardous to the health, safety and welfare of its inhabitants, and the general public, as required by State and County Codes.”

De Vaul has previously said that the enforcement actions will likely force some people who live on the ranch to leave.
