O, studious Cougars, your finals are hitting you hard. But are you reeling from the blow just a little too much? As important as studying is, it’s also important to take a break every now and then. I’ll grant that some of you have probably been doing that the entire semester, but the point still stands.

While stretching your legs and easing your mind from your studies on campus, you might try taking your allotted reprieve at the Art Department, specifically the Wicked-Step Gallery. Though visual and recording art students probably pass by the gallery all the time, others might have never even been to that part of the campus. Inside, you can enjoy the creations of your Cuesta peers, from the strange to the beautiful, and everything clever and creative. From the calming effects of colors to the enjoyment of a particular artist’s sense of humor, it’s a nice way to spend a little bit of time to yourself.

Of course, there’s always the ASCC Social Club. Heck, you can even set up yourself to study there if you’re too nervous to stray too far from your books. A healthy game of pool or comfy-couch-stationed Xbox 360 match can do wonders for one’s anxiety—in moderation, of course. As always, the club can be found in the courtyard by the cafeteria and fountain.

Oh, here’s an idea! Are you tired of studying at the same old coffee shop? Do you want to study in style? Well, look no farther than the World-Famous Madonna Inn’s Copper Café and Coffee Shop! This SLO tradition, with its signature Black Forest Cake and delicious hot cocoa (and coffee) is sure to please any would-be studier and his/her tiredness at always sharing a table with random hipsters. The gorgeous pink, gold, and rock-colored staple of the Central Coast is annually decorated for Christmas, which will help fill any student’s head with festive cheer. The café can be found at 100 Madonna Road, but believe me, you’ll know it when you see it.

Now once you’ve taken care of your stretch break, get back to studying! It’ll all be over next week, Cougars. No, really, everything will end.
