The Central Coast Ag Network kicks off a new campaign on February 24 at The Range restaurant in Santa Margarita to support local agricultural producers by raising consumer awareness. The group will be unveiling the “Central Coast Grown label, a way to identify locally grown goods. The effort is designed to help agricultural producers highlight their products and to help consumers make informed buying decisions.
According to a press release, advantages include keeping dollars in the local economy, helping local farmers and ranchers — which helps preserve local heritage, buying fresh food, and helping the environment by reducing “food miles, the distance food has to travel to get to the plate.
