Securely stow all your cooking utensils and Airstream it over to Morro Strand State Beach the weekend of Oct. 25-27 for the very first “Stranded in Morro Bay” Vintage Trailer Rally! No tiny sink and stove necessary for this camping trip. Food and beverages will be supplied by amazing local chefs, wineries, and breweries. The event is open to the public and available as a one-day food extravaganza or an entire weekend of chilling with fellow trailerites.

On Friday, Oct. 25, set up camp and head down to Happy Hour, provided by Central Coast State Parks Association. On Saturday morning breakfast will be provided for campers. Then, check out one amazing rig after another during the Trailer Open House.

From 4 to 6 p.m. on Saturday enjoy samplings from Pear Valley Vineyards, Halter Ranch Vineyards, Harmony Cellars, Jack Creek Cellars, Cass Winery, Penman Springs Vineyard, Pomar Junction Vineyard & Winery, Saucelito Canyon Vineyard & Winery, Big Sky Café, Dorns Original Breakers Café, Hush-Harbor Artisan Bakery, Casa de Flores, and Fig Good Food. Get your dance on with the Sunny Knights playing classic swing music, under the tent at the Morro Strand State Beach Campground.

For those of us without vintage trailers—insert sad face here—the full day of tastings and vintage trailer open house is only $25 per person.  The entire weekend, including camping fees and all events, costs $150 per person or $180 for couples. See ccspa.info for full pricing details.

This event is many things: a chance to show off your classic home on wheels, an opportunity to sample the cuisine and vintages of many great restaurants and wineries, and a perfect way to benefit state parks. According to the CCSPA press release, proceeds from the event will go to renovating a donated 35’ Airstream interpretive center for the state beach. The only thing that might make it more enticing is a S’mores competition—oh, wait, there’s one of those, too!

Arts Intern Victoria Dale painted her Subaru Outback silver and hung curtains in the back for that Airstream affectation. Send all of your cuisine-related news to [email protected].
