Longoria 2010 Pinot Noir Rancho Santa Rosa Vineyard

Whenever I’m in northern Santa Barbara County wine country, I always stop at Longoria tasting room. This vineyard-designated Pinot from the Sta. Rita Hills appellation is a beauty, even this young, and will age well. But if you’re like me, you’ll have a hard time staying away from this now. It has bright red fruit flavors that are ripe and complex with layers of plummy notes and spice. He aged it in 35 percent new French oak that’s well integrated, and this wine is quite nicely balanced. Choose it for a special meal with roasted beef or pork, osso buco, or rack of lamb. Available at his tasting rooms in Los Olivos and Lompoc, or Longoriawine.com, it’s a great Pinot for only $45 retail.
