Sunset, surf, and a glass o’ wine! Tickets go on sale Dec. 1 for the first-ever Blendfest on the Coast event, featuring Paso Wines and the beauty of the Cambria and San Simeon Coastlines (tickets are limited; check out the details at winecoastcountry.com) … The holidays are all about glitz, tinsel, and—of course—sparkling wines. Celebrate with Laetitia Vineyard and Winery, which suggests seven spectacular sparklings for seven days of the week (I am particularly fond of their suggestion to pair their non-vintage brut cuvee, packed with melon and apple flavors—$25—with fried chicken!). Visit their Arroyo Grande tasting room from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Dec. 5 for a Holiday Open House featuring gift packs, new releases, light snacks, and holiday cheer (laetitiawine.com) … A new website and tasting room have arrived for award-winning Mooney Family Wines in Creston (click on over to mooneyfamilywines.com and check out their recent 94-point 2012 Mooney Family “Boekenoogen Vineyard” Pinot Noir).

FARMstead ED is always up to something cool and hands-on so you can broaden your knowledge and learn a new craft. This Dec. 6, check out their Holiday Infusions class with Lisa Pretty, where you’ll learn the inside scoop on crafting your own infused oils, vinegars, salts, and holiday liqueurs (get tickets at farmsteaded.com; classes kick off at Pretty-Smith Winery in Paso Robles) … Einhorn Brewing Company is stoked to announce that their Höpfenhammer IPA will be available in time for the holidays! The small-batch local brew will be on-hand the first week of December, so keep your eyes peeled for those special handles while you’re out holiday shopping. Honestly, cold beer is in order this time of year.

Santa Margarita Ranch is pretty darn awesome (massive zip-lines, amazing Ancient Peaks wine, gorgeous old barn). Now, the bucolic terrain is even more awesome thanks to the fact that it can call itself its very own AVA. Congrats to the Santa Margarita Ranch American Viticultural Area, taking over the world, one bottle at a time. … And finally, we were all wondering what was going to happen to the former Eagle Castle Winery tasting room off Highway 46 West. As it turns out, Rabble Wines’ Tooth & Nail producer will be moving into the mini castle, and I hear that the operation (remodeled to be both historic and edgy) should be ready before Thanksgiving.
