SLOMA screens 'Philip Johnson: Diary of an Eccentric Architect' on Nov. 16 

Sometimes you just have to let your walls come down, unless there were no walls to begin with.

The San Luis Obispo Museum of Art is showing Philip Johnson: Diary of an Eccentric Architect, a documentary featuring one of the most important American architects of the 20th century on Nov. 16 at 7 p.m.

One of Phillips’ most important works was his own home in New Canaan, Conn. Formally known as Glass House, it is now a national historic landmark. The building has no walls and an accompanying guesthouse has no windows.

Philip Johnson: Diary of an Eccentric Architect visits Glass House, its gallery that houses an extensive collection of contemporary art on revolving walls, and another project that Johnson called his “latest folly,” for his intention to build it without straight lines.

Viewers witness Johnson at work on the sculptural building from its initial stages to its completion.

The suggested donation for the screening of the documentary is $5 for museum members and $7 for nonmembers.
