Celebrate Women's History Month with the SLO County Libraries 

Sure you studied history all the way from Kindergarten through high school, but what about herstory?

March is Women’s History Month and the San Luis Obispo County Libraries want to celebrate with you!

All month long participating libraries will offer up free activities like film screenings, special speakers, story time for kids, and more.

Witness a staged suffragette protest (complete with period costumes) at the Atascadero Library on Tuesday, March 8, at 3 p.m. Take in a screening of the film Suffragette, which tells the story of the feminist movement in England, on Tuesday, March 29, at 4:30 p.m. at the Creston Library or catch it on Saturday, March 29, at 2 p.m. at the Morro Bay Library.

Marguerite Bader from the SLO League of Women Voters will share her experiences from The Deportation Dilemma Tour to Tijuana on Saturday, March 12, at 11 a.m. at the Morro Bay Library. Vicki Leon, author of the Outrageous Women and Uppity Women series, will share her experiences on Wednesday, March 30, at 10 a.m. at the Morro Bay library. 

Learn more about the story behind the iconic rivet slinging Rosie when you take in a viewing of the documentary The Life and Times of Rosie the Riveter, which explores the lives of working women during Word War II on Saturday, March 19, at 2 p.m. at the San Luis Obispo Library.
