Author Susan Branch to give talk in Morro Bay

When a relationship meets its demise there’s a tendency to create change by getting a new haircut, a new piercing even—or perhaps buying a cabin on Martha’s Vineyard to live in.

The latter is what local author and watercolor artist Susan Branch did in the winter of 1982. After the sudden unexpected end of her marriage, she fled to Martha’s Vineyard where a vacation turned into the impulsive purchase of a cabin, 3,000 miles from home in California. Branch’s new book, Martha’s VineyardIsle of Dreams, follows the story of her own road to self-discovery and her adventures along the way.

Her book is currently listed on the May 2016 New York Times Best Sellers List for travel. Branch will give a talk and sign books on May 29 at 1 p.m. at the Morro Bay Community Center. Tickets are $20 and may be purchased at Coalesce Bookstore, located at 845 Main St., in Morro Bay. This book reading is a fundraiser for The Women’s Shelter Program of San Luis Obispo County. For more information or tickets, contact Coalesce at 772-2880.
