Where life meets Art Local artist and gallery owner, Michael Ackerman wants you to express yourself. “The goal is to create a playground where community and artists can play together, deepening their life expression and experience, creating a cohesive community empowered by the diversity of united individuality,” Ackerman said about his latest venture, CrossRoads Jam.

That is a lot to do on a weekend. Thank goodness CrossRoads Jam takes place every month, including on August 16 and 17. All genres of art are welcome: graphic art, music, spoken word, one-act plays, and more.

The evenings are based in improvisational music and dance and not in the tradition of happenings and salons.

The following is a selection from a poem Ackerman penned about the event:

We are all travelers in this life.

Moving individually and in groups as we each practice the Art of Living Fulfilled Lives.

When we arrive at a Cross Roads, there is always a plethora of choices and opportunities.

Here in the Cross Roads of San Luis Obispo we all tell our stories and share our dreams.

Some of us go back out on the road, some stay as we are, whether we physically leave SLO or not.

2880 Broad Street – next to Utopia Bakery in SLO. Information, details and artist’s applications: www.dwellinart.com, [email protected], 215-4433 or 459-6939.
