Weekly Poll
How much do you think large monetary contributions to campaigns can sway elected officials?

Way too much; it’s seriously time to big take money out of politics.

SLO Planning Commissioner District One 2012 Chair

By Jim Irving

Having served on the San Luis Obispo County Planning Commission with Carlyn Christianson for the past 2 1/2 years, I can attest that she is extremely knowledgeable about planning issues, does her homework, and is balanced and deliberate in her decision making.

From the perspective of a North County rancher and Realtor who is naturally more conservative in most matters than Carlyn, I’ve learned to respect her opinions and have found her to be respectful of mine. While we don’t always agree, our deliberations have never been adversarial or negative. And her leadership as the commission chair with three brand-new commissioners during the lengthy hearings about the Carrizo Plains solar projects was a testimony to her patience!
