Weekly Poll
What was your favorite year of college?

Freshman: Wait, what!? No parents, and all you can eat dining hall!?
Sophomore: That first noise violation felt oh so sweet!
Senior: I celebrated doing it in four by washing that senioritis down with Fireball.
Let’s just say I took the path less traveled for my college education.

Killing our children's dreams

San Luis Obispo

Jay Mendelsohn

I agree with David Torik’s assessment of how our schools (and medical establishment) deal with children who don’t meet “so called” standards (“The dreams of our children,” March 14). Our society wants a quick fix to everything. Just send them to a psychiatrist who can suggest a drug to help them conform.

The drugs may help the school and parents deal with these special children, but they only suppress their possible true talents. And it all comes down to money, of course. More money for the school and medical profession. We all need to take the time to nurture our children’s special talents, rather than helping to destroy countless dreams.
