Panga Boat Bust 9/6

Weekly Poll
What should San Luis Obispo do with John Ryan Mason now that he's been reinstated?

Continue to give him a break, everyone almost kills somebody once in a while.
Assign him to Dalmatian pooper-scooper duty.
Stay the reinstatement course, but end Charlie Hines' carte blanche with picking favorites.
Let Dan Carpenter duke it out with him in a winner-take-all bare-knuckle brawl.

SLO County, don't mess with Pirate's Cove

Nipomo

Bill Denneen

I have been jogging at Pirates Cove for four decades. I do not like the proposed “improvements” (“County takes Pirate’s Cove,” Feb. 28). I stop there on my way to meetings—making them more tolerable. It is neat looking at the rock strata, with each inch equal to 1,000 years, putting humans in perspective.

As a biologist, it was neat to talk with the pinnipeds (harbor seals), to watch pelicans diving, pigeon guillemots nesting, sea otters feeding, and see what the waves brought in.

The fancy parking lot and roads would attract people. Keep Pirate’s Cove rustic and rural.
