In the news story “Permission to party?” (Feb. 25), Ron Field is quoted as saying the neighbors are concerned about the traffic and noise impacts of weddings on our quiet and narrow road. While those impacts can indeed be problematic, I am far more concerned with the potential impacts of fire in an unpermitted old barn; we have building and fire codes for a reason. We are in year five of a drought and Cal Fire is overburdened in this area. The hazard of smokers and un-permitted electrical wiring in and around an old barn holding 150 party-goers puts an undue risk on our whole community. It is Ron that is being selfish and inappropriate, not the neighbors.
