What would really help Will and Ginet Longfellow in the short term is to have a home for their two chihuahuas and their pug.
For the couple, who’ve been married about four years, they just need “to get out of the damn shelter,” Ginet said.
In the long-term, they’d like to “find something steady.”
The couple met in Montana, where Ginet grew up. Will is actually local and met Ginet while traveling.
“I saw him and told my friends I was going to marry him,” Ginet said.
They moved to Colorado for three years where Will worked as a houseman and carpet tech while Ginet worked at the Humane Society. They both lost their jobs, had to go on unemployment, and eventually moved to San Luis Obispo to stay with Will’s grandfather.
That was in mid 2010, but Will’s grandfather died in November and now they’re shuffling through local shelters. Both have been trying to find work with no luck.
They also have three dogs and would love for someone to take them, at least until the couple gets back on their feet.
Will said he’s willing to work in exchange—he’s a good ranch hand. Ideally, they would love to stay on a ranch, help out around the property, and have a place where they and their dogs can stay for a while.
They’re looking for “anything,” Ginet said. “Anything to start out.”
